This sheet is then supercalendered (passed through high-pressure rollers) to increase its density, resulting in a material known as glassine. The glassine paper is further treated to fill its pores, enhancing its grease-resistant properties. Natural greaseproof paper achieves its grease resistance through the pulping process, where fibres are tightly meshed to create spaces smaller than grease molecules, without the need for chemical treatments.
